Jock Waugh, Founder and Director

Having spent 25 years in HM Customs and Excise covering all aspects of VAT including indirect tax policy the later part of his career was spent designing national compliance campaigns as part of Risk and Intelligence.

Making the decision to setup his own firm to concentrate on Kingscrest care operator claims over the past twelve years Jock and his team have returned around £50M in net benefits to the sector and in the course of doing so built an extensive network of clients and industry contacts.

Whilst Kingscrest claims are part of the workload, more recently his focus has been on the restructuring of Welfare Services allowing all operators the opportunity to improve their trading positions by being VAT efficient.

A former professional football referee, Jock lives in Sheffield with his wife Nicky and their five children.

Ian Sutton, Business Development

Ian has been involved in the care sector for almost 20 years.  In that time, he has owned and operated a small group of homes, provided consultancy tax advice regarding capital allowances and built an extensive network within the sector covering many operators, banks and funders.  Through the network Ian has sourced sites and care groups for acquisition.  One introduction has allowed a small group to develop into one of the shining stars of the sector.

Listening carefully and trying to assist clients in what they are searching for is an integral part of how Ian does business development for Kieran Lynch & Co.

Our Team

Based in Sheffield with colleagues around the country our team is experienced in working with clients to improve their VAT positions without impacting on their primary purpose of providing care. Operating to two simple briefs, Kingscrest or Contract Restructuring the team are focused on the issues involved in these niche areas of VAT.

Our Associations

We work with banks, accountants, lawyers, agents and other intermediaries across the sector and are proud to have been invited to be a partner of the National Care Forum (NCF) having worked with the CEO Vic Rayner for a number of years.
